Garment Measurements

Each figure below is taken from the piece itself, laid flat. Chest, waist, hip, hem and leg openings are given all the way round, so if you are comparing against something you already own, lay it flat, measure straight across and double it. Shoulder, sleeve and lengths are taken as they lie. Allow about half an inch either way, as every piece is finished by hand.

High Neck Dress · Silk

The slim belt is optional and there are no belt loops — the dress is designed to be worn either way.

Set Top · Baggy Shirt · Silk

Cut oversized with a dropped shoulder, a pointed collar and a hem that dips longer at the back — which is why the front and back lengths differ.

Set Trousers · Barrel Leg · Silk

The waistband is elasticated and sits comfortably well beyond the relaxed measurement shown.

Kimono · One Size

Robe · One Size

The robe belt is deliberately long and broad — wide enough to tie generously and sit softly at the waist.

Cotton Set · Capri

The capri trouser is elasticated at each side with a buttoned front, so the waist sits close to the measurement shown rather than stretching far beyond it. The neatest of our three cotton cuts through the body.

Cotton Set · Long

The long trouser fastens with a drawstring, so the waist draws in to you rather than sitting at a fixed measurement.

Cotton Set · Wide Leg

The wide-leg trouser is fully elasticated and stretches well beyond the relaxed measurement shown. The top is cut with a dropped shoulder and is the most generous of our three cotton styles.

Our three cotton sets are three different styles rather than one style in three lengths, so the tops are cut quite differently from one another — worth reading the chest measurement for the set you have in mind rather than assuming your usual size behaves the same way across all three. Sizes we have not yet put a tape to are graded from the ones we have, so they may move by a centimetre or two; tell us the set and the size and we will measure the very one for you.

Children

All figures in centimetres, taken with the piece laid flat. Chest and waist are given all the way round — so to compare with a garment of your own, lay it flat, measure across and double it.

Dresses

Our dresses are cut closer through the chest than our sets — an easy, skimming fit rather than a loose one — and fall from there into a soft A-line.

Sets

Every children’s set is cut to the same pattern — only the collar changes — so these measurements apply to the classic, ruffle and mandarin alike. The trouser waist is elasticated and stretches comfortably well beyond the relaxed measurement shown. A handful of pieces from our earlier production run shorter in the leg than the measurements above; if you are buying the last of a style, write to us and we will measure the very one before it is sent.
